When does the 2020 Discover BIO5 event series take place?
The events begin on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 (Inspiring Women in STEM) and will conclude on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 (Discover BIO5 Open House and Reception) with several others in between.
Where will the Discover BIO5 events take place?
All Discover BIO5 events will take place on UA Campus in the BIO5 / UAHS Tri-Building complex located at 1657 Helen Street, Tucson, AZ 85719 (unless otherwise noted). Details can be found at discoverbio5.arizona.edu under the individual event listings.
Do I need to be a UA employee or student to attend?
No, these events are open to the public and we encourage anyone with an interest in science and education to Discover BIO5!
Where can I park?
Event parking will be free in all UA surface lots surrounding the BIO5 Institute after 3:30pm the day of the event. Alternatively, there are some for-pay parking spaces which use meters in the Zone 1 parking lot just east of BIO5. The closest, hourly paid parking garage is located at Highland Avenue Garage (located at 1420 E Helen Street). The garage charges $2 per hour with an $8 maximum for 4+ hours of parking. The Highland Garage will not be free the night of the event. Accessible parking will be available in the Zone 1 lot located directly across the street from the Bioscience Research Laboratory (BSRL) Building off Cherry Ave.
What should I wear to the Discover BIO5 events?
Most attendees wear business casual clothing, although some dress more formally when giving their presentations. Check the Tucson weather here to plan your visit.
How many attendees do you expect?
We anticipate that all of our signature events in this series will likely draw several hundred guests. Please register for the event(s) you wish to attend so you may be included.
Will the events be streamed online?
When available, presentations will be accessible on discoverbio5.arizona.edu.
Is there a room available where I can nurse in private?
Yes. A nursing room is available in the BSRL building. Please ask for assistance at the Keating building front desk, or from any of our UA administrative staff so we might be able to escort you to the room.
Are gender neutral bathrooms available?
Yes. Gender neutral bathrooms are available on the first floor of the Bioscience Research Laboratory (BSRL) building.

Are pets allowed?
Only service animals are allowed at the Discover BIO5 events.
I’m an invited speaker. Do I need to register to attend?
Invited speakers do not need to register themselves and will be automatically included.
What meals are included with registration?
Meeting registration does not include meals. Light refreshments may be provided at some events, but should not be considered meals.
If I have already registered online ahead of time, where do I check-in once I arrive?
You will see a check-in center at the event and should check in there upon arrival to receive your name tag and materials.
Are there local hotel accommodations, close to the events?
We have no reserved hotel spaces associated with this event series, but can suggest the following University contracted hotels:

How do I get to the Discover BIO5 events?
The CatTran is a free shuttle service with stops close to the event area. Green and Purple CatTran shuttles have designated stops at BIO5 Institute. Another option is the SunLink Street Car. We are the eastern-most stop on the streetcar line.
Which airport is closest to the event?
Tucson International Airport is about a 20 minute car-ride to UA Campus.
